Frankston City Council, in conjunction with Mornington Peninsula Shire, will celebrate IDAHOBIT on May 17 with a series of flag raisings and author talks in support of our LGBTIQA+ communities.
The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is the international day against LGBTQIA+ discrimination.
It is a day to raise awareness, educate about inclusion and change the world for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning and asexual residents, communities, friends, family, allies and colleagues.
Frankston City Mayor Nathan Conroy said, “Diversity is such an important part of what makes the City of Frankston so special and we encourage everyone to join our IDAHOBIT events to support and celebrate members of our community. LGBTQIA+.
“Let’s come together and show the world that the community of Frankston is a welcoming community, where discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation will not be tolerated.
“In support of our local LGBTQIA+ community, we fly the rainbow flag year-round. I look forward to joining you in celebrating IDAHOBIT 2022 with our annual flag raising event,” said Mayor Conroy.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Anthony Marsh said, “We look forward to celebrating the lives of LGBTIQA+ people on the Mornington Peninsula and Frankston this IDAHOBIT.
“I am proud to represent a Board that supports diversity. Having a community where everyone feels valued, supported and safe is at the heart of everything we do.
“We support our LGBTIQA+ community and oppose all forms of discrimination on the peninsula,” said Mayor Marsh.
