Khyber Pakhtunkhwa [Pakistan]Jun 25 (ANI): Pakistani political party Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Thursday staged protests in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, over the brutal killing of four youth activists and a “plot to destroy the peace” in the tribal district of North Waziristan. , local media reported.
Notably, at least four volunteers from a social organization were killed on Sunday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their car in Pakistan’s North Waziristan district. All of the dead activists were part of a social organization, the Youth of Waziristan. The bodies were transferred to a hospital in the town of Mirali, Dawn reported.
The youth organization, formed after the military operation Zarb-i-Azb, worked to restore peace in the militancy-affected region. The organization also organized a demonstration and a sit-in against the targeted killings.
About two years ago, security agencies took action against a sit-in organized by Waziristan Youth and arrested its founding president, Noor Islam Dawar.
JI District Emir Mohammad Ajmal Khan, Secretary General Dr Naser Khan, Haji Akhtar Ali Shah and JI Provincial Deputy Head of Youth Dr Abdul Rauf Qureshi led the demonstrations to protest the killing of the youths.
The demonstrators held banners and passed through various markets in the city.
During the protests, speakers said Al-Khidmat Foundation chairman and Waziristan youth activist Asadullah Dawar and his friends, including Waqar Ahmad Dawar, Suneed Ahmad Dawar and Ammad Dawar, were brutally murdered in the North Waziristan Tribal District a few days ago, according to the media portal.
According to the speakers, the slain youth was educated and was a peace activist. Speaking about the incident, they added that the car they were traveling in was attacked by armed bikers.
Citing a conspiracy, they claimed that tribal youths and intellectuals were being killed to deliberately destroy peace in the region. Further, expressing concern over the law and order situation and targeted killing incidents in the tribal district, they called on the government to reprimand the perpetrators of the slain youths and deliver justice, according to the media portal.
District police and residents said unidentified men on two motorbikes opened fire on a moving car in the Haiderkhel neighborhood of Mirali tehsil. (ANI)
